Our Classroom Culture
If you walk into our classroom, you will find yourself in an environment where learning is rigorous, fun, and student centered. I aim to create an instructional program that accommodates individual student interests and abilities as active learners, while working towards a deep understanding of Common Core State Standards. I will spend the year fostering the lifelong critical thinker within every child. In our classroom, students are part of the learning process, not the outcome of it.
"The strength in our classroom lies in the collaboration
of learners, not in the knowledge of one expert."
Throughout our school year, students will engage in a variety of different learning opportunities. They will work alongside peers to strengthen their collaboration skills, conduct online research to develop educational independence, take notes in their Science notebooks to practice active listening, conference one-on-one with the teacher to begin the process of self-editing and revision, and many more opportunities that will help prepare them to transition to the upper grades.
